According to the information, the painting found in the possession of a gang member has the characteristic style of the great Greek painter, while the competent authorities are examining whether it is the authentic painting.
It is noted that works by Alexis Akrithakis that are sold can reach up to 200,000 euros. In international auctions, specific works have been valued quite high. For example, one of his works at Sotheby’s was valued between 34,000 and 56,000 euros.
In art auctions, drawings or smaller works by Akrithakis have been estimated and sold in the range of about €2,000-3,000 to €8,000-12,000 (e.g. drawings or smaller compositions) at Greek auction houses.
